Transparency Surface

With Facebook Pages, people didn’t have ways to determine where the content was coming from. I helped create Page Transparency, which displays crucial information such as admin location, Page history and an entry point to the ads library.

This was a challenge in designing content at scale. Pages cover every imaginable use case and stress case: from worldwide brands (Nike, Starbucks) to SMBs, from potentially controversial political topics in oppressive countries to artists and beyond. This means creating language that solves for every case, without being too convoluted or exclusive.

Beyond what you see in the Page Transparency surface, I also worked on an opt-out flow for location transparency for admins where exposing their location may result in real-world harm (i.e. an LGBTQ page in Indonesia).
